The Mark of the Gods is a story set during the Eighteenth dynasty of the Pharaonic era of Egypt and is told through the eyes of Nebamun, the Royal Scribe to King Akhenaten. He chronicles the life of an unassuming woman called Halima, a healer within her small village who is taken from her humble home on a journey across the river Nile and through her native Egypt.
During this dangerous journey Halima encounters events that will alter her fate and place her upon a path destined for greatness. Through a combination of chance, a determined character and her extensive skills as a healer, her journey eventually takes her to the splendour of the royal household. But with intrigue and deception commonplace within the palace, danger lurks everywhere and when Halima is charged with care of the boy Prince her life takes a perilous turn. Through a series of suspicious events the Prince is thrust onto the throne and would become one of the youngest rulers of Egypt, known as King Tutankhamun.

Boring and disjointed
I really had a difficult time following the story. It kept jumping back and forth between characters. Just made it confusing. It got to the point where I would skip sections just to stay with the main character.
If you are into reading a documentary in story form and love history, different cultures and beliefs, then this is the book for you. The author is one who knows her subject, and is able to let you see in your mind's eye what the kingdom of Egypt looked like. I was impressed with the story and couldn't stop reading!!! Loved it!
